Spring 2008
Letter to ALL No Comments »Dear Baseball Enthusiasts,
A lot has happened in the development of Baseball Moldova since last season. We have run into some problems and set backs. We have created more teams and helped spread baseball throughout Moldova. In the end we have had a lot of progress in getting baseball up and running in the Republic of Moldova. We are still in the process of negotiating terms to construct Moldova’s first baseball stadium complex with local government.
I would like to thank and recognize Frank Fulton of Perfect Game Baseball and the Good Citizens Foundation for all of their support from the USA. Frank and I have created a partnership that embodies philanthropy through sports and the game of baseball. Frank is helping with design and implementation from abroad while I am taking care of logistics and production here in Moldova. The U.S Embassy has also helped in making contacts for the approval in the development of a baseball complex on city land in Moldova.
Frank is currently hosting a Moldovan coach and friend in the US in a week long training process that will emphasize all aspects of baseball. Andrei Butnari is spending the week of April 13th- 19th in Raleigh/Durham with Frank in hopes that he can bring back professional, logistical, and fundamental baseball skills and organization to Moldova. Andrei will teach what he’s learned from Frank’s camps and knowledge. Andrei plays a vital role in the development of baseball development here in Moldova.
We are currently working with the US embassy and waiting approval for land usage in the city of Chisinau Moldova, the current baseball capital of Moldova. Once completed we have planned to build a 3 baseball and 1 soccer field complex that will be ran by the Baseball Federation of Moldova. The idea is 2 little league fields in opposite corners of a baseball field with a big league lying next to it. This complex will bolster both soccer and baseball, both girls and boys, and will be free for the public to use through the Baseball Federation of Moldova.
We are excited to begin the new season and realize our initial objective of implementing our grant money and funds from abroad to build Moldova’s first baseball stadium. We are still looking for baseball donations that can be donated and sent to the US or Moldova. We are still trying to promote baseball in a country where the majority of the population has no clue about what the sport is and what it embodies. Most of all we are still trying to promote Moldova throughout the international baseball community. Support within our industry is vital to Baseball Moldova’s sustainability. Thanks for stopping b.

Jerry Martin
